Phobias

Have you finally decided that today is the day that you do something about your irrational fear?  Has it got to the point that your life is being ruined because you are afraid of something and perhaps you dont know why?  Are you being mocked because you are scared of something other people accept readily.  Then hypnotherapy can help you as it has helped many phobics before.

The most common phobias dealt with are flying, spiders, dogs and heights.  There are many other phobias.   Infact anything can be a phobia.  Normally phobias are learned behaviours.  For example as a young child you may have seen your Mother jump on a chair when she saw a spider, you learn that the spider is dangerous because of the actions of your Mother.  This grows within you and you then become also scared of spiders. Learned behaviours can be unlearned with hypnotherapy. 

If a phobia is more disruptive for example agoraphobia or social phobia then it will be necessary to look into the clients childhood, where many issues are rooted.  When you are a child your cognitive skills are still developing and you dont have the tools to determine what is a real threat ad what isnt.  You make an instant deep subconscious decision on how to react and behave.

A common approach to phobias is in the teaching of relaxation and visualisation techniques for systematic desensitisation.  You willl  learning new habits such as being more relaxed and calm.

In some people it may be useful to help them realise that this phobia has had a use, it has served its purpose and has now become a dominant destructive behaviour.  For example, when as a child did you sit down and weight up the likelihood of a visit from the bogey man?  You probably didnt.  What you did was to learn not to be afraid of the bogey man subconscoiusly without having to sit down and consciously decide.   Hypnosis simply accelerates the internal ability we have to get over irrational fears.
